I like these low risk signings Calgary does. They don't always work out but, if you find a late bloomer, it can but help in building a team quicker.
On that note, I really hope the Flames resign Nak daddy and find a way to fit him into a top 6 spot. |

Back to Drouin....
The Flames need to be able to spread out their offense....he's exactly what the Flames need because he would do just that. Everyone is focusing on finding a winger for the top line but I say (frank) that....JG and Mony will be awesome even if they have to play with some plug. I hope the Flames focus on finding a winger for Bennett so we can have 2 lines that teams will have to guard against.
Imagine those 2 duo's on the top lines |

Regardless of who they draft (or if they trade for Drouin), they play with Bennett, absolutely. Stacking that first line would be a massive mistake |

Drouin hasn't proven anything other than being a pretentious, self-absorbed and entitled brat
I'll take a hard pass on him unless he comes basically for free.... |

Haha well like I said....depending on the results of the draft lottery, I would consider moving this years first. I think it would save a couple year of development and I think we would get a much more dynamic player than if we were to draft 7th or 8th this year.
I know he's an entitled female dog....but he has manned up in a big way so far during the playoffs. He's an force out there, and is playing a strong, physical, in your face type of game. I honestly hated him until I watched him play this series haha. |

And it's been suggested that Yzerman wants a player back not a pick. And considering they spent a 3rd overall on him, and have spent time developing him, what makes you think a 7th or 8th is fair? |

Might be the most someone is willing to give up....maybe he thinks he's worth more but he's only worth as much as someone is willing to spend. And I doubt any teams would offer more.
Agreed on Yzerman wanting a player though...most likely that's the route they go. |

If that's all that's on the table then Stevie Y walks away. This is a kid in the 2nd year of his ELC and has no say. The bolts can retain him as a RFA for years after next as well. No one is going to offer more than 2 mill a year unless he does something special next season so Tampa just matches any offer sheets and wait until someone offers up something of reasonable value. |

As said above, because he's a little entitled female dog. He's damaged goods to a degree.
If we get DAL 1st I would consider something like that pick, Kulak and Wideman with retained salary. If we fall to 8th....maybe just that pick. If that's not good enough for 'ol Stevie, then he can suck it.
I still maintain that Drouin is not what we need so giving up more would be ridiculous. He would help, sure, but ultimately we need to add size to our top 6. Drouin strikes me as another ROR type that holds out until he gets what he wants, even if he hasn't earned it. |

And in the meantime he's a growing cancer in your locker room and your organization. And he's just counting the days until he has some leverage with arbitration or to just walk away.
Stevie's not an idiot, he's not going to sit on a disgruntled asset when he could add to a potential Cup challenging team.
Kulak is a good puck moving, NHL ready D and Wideman can still provide good offensive minutes, especially if we retain $1-2 mil. Add the late 1st and Yzerman would be a fool to say no. |

I disagree...the time is now for the bolts....Yzerman isn't just going to wait around and waste the prime years of his best prospect. Is he going to keep him in the minors next year too? His value is just going to go down haha. |

I think your deal is a little weak but agreed on everything else. If we got a late fist and added say Wotherspoon and Wideman (2 mil retained) I think it would be close.
If they lose Stamkos would they take Backlund straight up? Could be interesting.... |

So you think Wotherspoon is that much of an upgrade to my proposal? Drouin is still a prospect. As is Kulak. Both have shown strong possibilities of becoming legit, full time NHL's. I keep TSpoon because he's our best low cost shut down option. We have lots of solid puck moving D in our system in Andersson, Kylington and even Hickey as well as Culkin. We can afford to move Kulak, and I'm sure as hell not moving Andersson or Kylington as I believe they are probably our 2 best prospects. |

Tbay needs to sort out Stamkos before they can make any decisions on Drouin IMO - If Stamkos re-signs, they have the need to go load up again for another cup run - if he walks, you consider tearing down to some degree and loading up with young players (maybe keep Drouin) |

Sure, they can keep Drouin. They may even be able to mend their differences. But, as it stands, the dude just doesn't want to be there, for whatever reason. |
